The nostril flare

Jon | 10/15/2013

Ever since we were kids whenever Bryan would get extremely upset or aggravated his nostrils would flare. And not a casual flare, we are talking Elephant Seal. Those nose flares would usually make their appearances in pickup basketball games, when often times Bryan would be on the losing side of a tough battle. Once you saw the flare, you knew it was all downhill for Bryan.
Well, jump forward to 9-27-13, Bryan and I are scheduled to have a serious match (match play) that was to help determine who would choose the first player for the Bronze Bear. Bryan shows up, shakes my hand, and then proceeds to be the most antisocial person on the entire golf course. He puts his ear buds in and goes through an hour practice routine listening to the “Eye of the Tiger”.
After four holes and two birdies by me, I was looking for the notorious nose flare from Bryan as he was playing par golf through four and still losing. But he provided no nostril flare, only a birdie on hole 5. After 13 holes Bryan was 1 over, but yet our match was tied and I could see the frustration and fear building in his eyes. After I took hole 15 and a one hole lead, Bryan comes up short on a pitch shot on hole 16 (he was short sided). Then I saw it in all its glory…….the “nostril flare”! He proceed to fail again and again at pitching his ball on the green, knowing that anything less than a perfect shot would mean a loss of that hole. At that point I took a two hole lead into hole 17. Bryan knew that a tie would be as good as a loss to me, so he continued to battle but the nostril flare and the fact that he was down two holes with just two to go ended up being too much for Bryan to overcome. As agreed upon, I took a plunge into the lake on 18.

Bryan is supposed to move it to "the view" section of the website. I am known for being long but that's usually on the golf course and in a couple other instances. They told me you were gettting up there in years but i figured you knew how to use a tablet. I'll see if i can get you a paper edition for you.

I am bringing breathe-rite strips so that this will not be an issue

uhhh i didn't realize that this part of my anatomy would be such a hot topic! I highly doubt that it will be an issue at grand bear. The odds of playing against a person that has the round of their life in back to back matches is highly unlikely.

It seems every time we play you think I played the round of my life. I figure one day you will realize that just because your having the round of your life and still loose, doesn't mean that I am having the round of my life. It just means you probably shouldn't play someone who is out of your league.

If he does it only means Mr. Andy is out of your league too.

Thanx Jon for the paperback offer. I would suggest a good quality paper, like Charmin Ultra-Soft. That way, when I've completed the novel....Well you know, it has other uses.
